Used Cooking Grease Spill Cleaned Up in Campbell

Campbell Public Works and Santa Clara County Fire came out this morning to clean up a spill near San Tomas Expressway and Campbell Avenue.

It must be something about the Orchard City ...

Last week, a and this morning, a Campbell Patch Facebook reader alerted us of some activity taking place near San Tomas Expressway at Campbell Avenue.

Turns out that a truck collecting grease from nearby restaurants forgot to put the cap on his tank and spilled cooking grease onto San Tomas Expressway and Campbell Avenue.

The truck in question was making collections behind San Tomas Plaza around 11:00 a.m. when the driver apparently forgot to put the cap back on his tank, Campbell Police Capt. Dave Carmichael said.

"We received a report of an oil slick and found that he had spilled grease onto the road," Carmichael said.

Both Campbell Public Works as well as Santa Clara County Fire were called out to clean up the spilled oil slick. The truck driver responsible for the cooking grease spill was found by police and was cited, Carmichael said.

I was in the jam trying to get to the Right Stuff. 3 lanes into 2 and no turning onto Campbell Ave. Lots of steam or smoke coming from the clean up efforts. Glad to know what happened and wasn't in a hurry.

I was on my way to work and noticed a nasty smell, next thing I know I drive through all that gross shit, real great way to start my day, driving to the coin hop car wash to power wash cooking greese off my car, really fun (sarcasm) guess it could have been worse but it was still very unpleasant :(

Must have been a sight! And agreed Thankfully it was this and not something worse. So ... did you get to the gym? ;)

Ugh. Sorry to hear that it put a damper on your day. As I was writing this, I was trying to imagine the smell too.

My sister's car slid in this yesterday before the clean up! Scary!
