Car in Fast Lane Caught On Fire, Firefighters Quick to Respond

A car fire on Highway 17 was quickly put out by 11 fire fighters last night.

Hot Wheels is an understatement.

A Subaru sedan's engine caught on fire on Highway 17's fast lane last night, June 22 at 7:28 p.m. Lucky for the sole passenger that two Santa Clara County Fire engines and one truck showed up, a total of 11 fire fighters, making quick work of the flames.

The call came in at 7:13 p.m., the trucks were on the road by 7:15 p.m., and arrived at the scene at 7:18 p.m. The whole incident was cleared at 7:34 p.m.

 "It was all pretty fast," said Santa Clara County Fire Department spokesman. "It didn’t look like the fire was that extensive. It was confined to the engine compartment."

There was a a property loss of approximately $4,000, but no injuries reported. California Highway Patrol was also on the scene.
