Campbell Police Will Have Enhanced Staffing for July 4th

Reports of fireworks have been coming in for more than a week now and Campbell PD remind residents that they are illegal in Campbell.

Tomorrow is 4th of July and although many have already started celebrating throughout the Orchard City, Campbell Police remind everyone that fireworks are illegal in Campbell.

As for tomorrow's patrols, nothing is changing said Campbell Police Capt. Dave Carmichael.

"Our holiday plans have worked well over the past few years so we are not making any changes," Carmichael said. "Our regular staffing will be enhanced with the addition of some reserve officers (volunteers)."

As for the holiday explosives, Carmichael said not only is it is a misdemeanor to possess them but there are some unplanned consequences that go hand in hand with setting them off in a suburban setting.

"Fires and injuries from explosions are the major concerns of setting off fireworks," he said. "In particular, aerial rockets can travel a long distance and can unintentionally start a fire.
