Campbell Police: No Leads in Attempted Sexual Assault Case

The assault on a 17-year-old girl happened near the Ainsley House one week ago.

 

One week after an attempted sexual assault on a teenager near the Ainsley House, there have been no new leads and the Campbell Police are asking for the public's help.

"We are just looking for help from anyone who might have seen the suspect," said Campbell Police Sgt. Gary Berg.

The attempted assault took place on Feb. 8 at approximately 4:00 p.m. near the Ainsley House, police said.

According to police, the 17-year-old victim was walking to the Campbell Library when an unknown suspect came up from behind her and assaulted her. The victim struggled with her assailant, was able to free herself and ran toward Central Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white or light skinned Hispanic male, between the age of 35 and 40, approximately 5'8" tall and 180 pounds, with buzz cut hair, police said. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket and baggy pants with numerous pockets.

The Campbell Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the assault or the identification of the suspect to contact the Investigations Division at 408-871-5190.
