Campbell Man Charged with Six Counts of Grand Theft

Owner of Sunnyvale Motorcars, 50-year-old Ameen Wisal or "Andy Paul is accused of leaving numerous consignment customers unpaid.

Campbell resident Ameen Wisal was arrested today on six counts of grand theft.

According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, 50-year-old Wisal, who also was known as "Andy Paul" was the owner of Sunnyvale Motorcars used dealership, which closed abruptly late last year leaving numerous consignment customers unpaid and their BMWs, Cadillacs and other high-end vehicles gone.

Wiscal's bail was set at $500,000 and if convicted faces up to six years and four months in prison. A date for his arraignment has not been scheduled yet.

“When Sunnyvale Motorcars suddenly closed, people were left without their cars, recompense or answers,” Deputy District Attorney Georg Behrens said in a release. “We will work hard to seek criminal accountability for their losses, as well as restitution.”

Sunnyvale Motorcars, located at 681 E. El Camino Real closed suddenly in December 2012. The local dealership sold used high-end cars, many of which were taken on consignment from their owners, the release said. Customers who consigned their cars with Sunnyvale Motorcars never received notification that the business was closing its doors.

According to the release, many of these customers were not paid for the sale of their vehicles while others received bad checks from the dealership. Other customers also complained that the cars they had bought from the dealership were still legally owned by someone else.

Anyone with information about this case is requested to contact Detective Christopher Ketchum of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at 408-730-7129.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
