Campbell Chiropractor Will Face Trial Charged With Sexually Assaulting Patient

News release from the Santa Clara  County District Attorney's Office:

A Campbell chiropractor will face trial on a charge that he sexually assaulted a patient, a judge ruled today.  Manfred Alkhas, 47, of San Jose, is charged with sexual battery, a felony charge that he was “held to answer” for at the conclusion of a preliminary hearing by the Hon. Shelyna Brown.

If convicted, he faces up to four years of incarceration.  Pending his criminal case, the owner and operator of Good Life Chiropractic has been allowed to practice chiropractics with restrictions.

On July 15 of last year, a 21-year-old female patient notified police that Alkhas touched intimate parts of her body during treatment for physical ailments.

Alkhas was arrested by Campbell police on July 19 and released on $150,000 bail.

During the preliminary hearing, a Campbell police officer testified that a woman came forward after the arrest and told officers that she had been sexually assaulted by Alkhas, while he was her teacher at an Assyrian community center in San Jose in the mid-1980s.

Those crimes cannot be charged because the alleged assaults happened outside of the statute of limitations.

Anyone with further information about this defendant may contact Campbell Detective Mark Cutler at (408) 866-2179.
