BLOTTER: Car Break-Ins, Garbage Can Fires and Harassing Text Messages

Tuesday, Sept. 11

10:00 pm-3:30 a.m.

1700 Block of Grace Ave.

An unknown suspect entered an unlocked 2008 Jeep Liberty and stole two digital cameras. A report was taken.

12:00 -7:00 a.m.

1600 Block of Phantom Ave.

An unknown suspect entered a VW Golf and stole an iPod Nano. A report was taken.

4:50 p.m.

Campbell Avenue at San Tomas Aquino Rd.

A 38-year-old was intoxicated to a point she could not care for herself and was booked.

Aug. 16-19

500 Block of Railway Ave.

An unknown suspect stole two bicycles from an apartment balcony. A report was taken.

Sept. 8-10

1800 Block of S. Bascom Ave.

An unknown suspect broke the plastic molding around the ATM camera. A report was taken.

1:34 p.m.

200 Block of Llewellyn Ave.

A 42-year-old got upset with the victim and was holding a screwdriver. The suspect also tried to prevent the victim from leaving. A report was taken.

9:00 p.m.

500 Block of E. Hamilton Ave.

A 24-year-old suspect concealed items and exited without paying. She was cited.

5:00-2:00 p.m.

1500 Block of McCoy Ave.

An unknown suspect entered a garage and took gardening tools. A report was taken.

9:58 p.m.

500 Block of E. Hamilton Ave.

An officer observed a crime in progress. He detained the 31-year-old suspect in the parking lot and after the suspect admitted to entering with the intent to take the property, he booked her.

3:50 a.m.

800 Block of E. Hamilton Ave.

A 29-year-old was found to be DUI and was booked. 

Monday, Sept. 10

3:35 p.m.

Fairbanks at Virginia

Officers located a tow truck, which was reported previously stolen to Campbell Police. A report was taken.

Past weekend

800 Block of Chapman Dr.

An unknown suspect set four garbage cans on fire. A report was taken.

Past Week

300 Block of Orchard City Dr.

An unknown suspect stole the license plates from a Honda. A report was taken.

Sept. 8

W. Hamilton Ave.

A victim used the ATM and left, forgetting her ATM card. The victim checked her account and saw money had been withdrawn. A report was taken.

Sept. 6

900 Block of Wallace Dr., San Jose

A 51-year-old man was reported missing to Campbell Police.

Sept. 2-10

2100 Block of S. Winchester Blvd.

A victim had been receiving harassing text messages from an unknown person. A report was taken.

7:42 p.m.

Winchester Boulevard at Budd Ave.

A suspect was contacted and found to be intoxicated. She was booked.

6:52 p.m.

W. Parr Avenue at Dardenelli

A suspect hit a parked car and was found to be driving under the influence and was arrested.

7:05 p.m.

1200 Block of Camden Ave.

A victim advertised her phone for sale. The suspect contacted her and they agreed to meet. The suspect was looking at the phone when he took it and fled. A report was taken.

8:12 p.m.

600 Block of E. Hamilton Ave.

A suspect entered the store, selected two TVs and left without paying for them. He was cited.

10:40 p.m.

2300 Block of S. Winchester Blvd.

The suspect made a derogatory statement to the victim and they got into a confrontation. A report was taken.

7:40 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

1400 Block of Parsons Ave.

An unknown suspect entered the residence and stole jewelry. A report was taken.

12:23 a.m.

1400 Block of W. Campbell Ave.

Officers located a Toyota stole out of Santa Clara. A report was taken.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
