The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting early Friday that may have left someone injured, though authorities have been unable to locate the possible victim.

Just after midnight on Friday deputies responded to reports of gunfire that had struck an occupied home and two unoccupied vehicles in the 100 block of Cottage Drive in Watsonville, according to police.

Deputies talked to several people in the area but weren't able to locate anyone who was struck by gunfire, police said.

While investigating deputies found bullet holes in a home and two vehicles, as well as evidence that suggested two different firearms were used in the incident, according to police.

Deputies also found blood, suggesting a person was injured but had left the area. Several people were detained for questioning but no one was arrested, police said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the sheriff's office at (831) 471-1121.
