Armed Robber Takes Cash and Flees

Campbell Police are still looking for 50-year-old suspect.

The US Bank at 1998 S. Bascom Ave. was robbed at gunpoint this morning.

According to Campbell Police, the robbery occurred at about 9:05 a.m.

A bald 50-year-old Caucasian male, about 5'10," 220 pounds wearing a cream colored Halloween mask and a dark brown “cabbie” style hat, a Grey button-up coat similar to a pea coat and khaki pants entered the bank. He walked up to a teller, displayed a black handgun and demanded cash.

The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed sum of money and was last seen on Bascom Avenue heading toward Hamilton Avenue, Campbell Police Capt. Charley Adams said. No shots were fired during the incident and there are no injuries reported.

This particular bank location has been robbed in the past, Adams confirmed. The suspect in that robbery was caught in Santa Clara and was connected to other robberies in the area. He is currently in custody.

Campbell Police searched a two-mile radius, with 10 officers searching the specific area and other nearby agencies keeping an eye out generally, Adams said. The suspect, however, was not found.

Campbell robbery investigators are reaching out to other local agencies, looking for possibly similar incidents but police have no concrete leads.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Campbell Police Department Robbery Detectives at 408-866-2121.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
