After Short Foot Chase, Campbell Police Apprehend Shoplifters

Police say two San Jose men were arrested Wednesday afternoon for shoplifting at Kohl's.

Campbell Patch received a tip from the Campbell Patch Facebook page Wednesday morning about police activity at an apartment complex in Campbell.

Campbell Police confirmed that the activity, around 12:35 p.m. was indeed police related.

"Officers responded to Kohl's on a shoplifter call," said Campbell Police Capt. Charley Adams. "When officers arrived, they saw one suspect fleeing toward Hamilton Avenue and attempted to stop him."

According to Adams, the suspect jumped over a fence into the apartment complex Savone mentioned at 601 Almarida Dr. in an attempt to evade arrest.

"After posting officers at perimeter locations around the complex, other officers began searching the interior and located the suspect hiding in an outside closet," Adams said. "He was taken into custody without incident."

A second suspect identified by Kohl's loss prevention department also fled into the apartment complex and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, Adams said.

Both suspects, a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old, are male and San Jose residents.

"They will be booked for theft and resisting arrest charges," Adams said. "The search for the suspects took about 1/2 hour."
