A Month Too Early and a Month Too Late: Fireworks Cause Blaze

Fire department points to fireworks as cause of grass fire in Campbell.

It's been more than a month since the Fourth of July, with weeks to go before Labor Day, but that didn't stop the crackles and pops from starting a blaze this week.

Two fire engines and a truck were dispatched at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday to Olympia Avenue.

There had been a grass fire at the property that had been extinguished before the trucks arrived, a Santa Clara County Fire Department spokeswoman said.

"Apparently, this was fallout from fireworks, which had started the fire," she said.
