Man Allegedly Exposes Himself to Library Patron

Campbell Police responded to the incident at Campbell Library on May 23 at 4:12 p.m.

According to police, a man walking down the ramp to the exposed himself to a patron.

According to a report, the incident took place Wednesday at 4:12 p.m. when a suspect called out to the victim and showed her he had his penis out of his pants and in his hand.

When Campbell Police arrived, the suspect was located inside the library, looking at pornography at a computer, the report stated.

The victim declined to prosecute the suspect but he has a notice to appear in court on his warrant for resisting arrest.

"In the last year and a half, we've responded to about one call a month related to indecent exposure," said Campbell Police Capt. Charley Adams.

These calls, however are not always crimes, he said. Someone running down the street naked or standing on their balcony naked are two examples of such calls.

"It's not the wisest decision but it's not a crime in and of itself," Adams said.

There have been four arrests in that time period from these calls, he said. In several of these cases, however, the suspects were not located.

In this week's case, the incident was sent over to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, Adams said.

For those convicted of exposing themselves, they have to register as sexual offenders, Adams said.

"It does carry with it some stigma," he said.
