15-Year-Old Watsonville Boy Found Shot To Death In Santa Cruz Apartment

Police are investigating a shooting that killed a 15-year-old boy visiting an apartment in Santa Cruz on Monday evening. 

Officers responded to reports of a victim suffering from a gunshot wound in an apartment in the 200 block of Center Street around 6:45 p.m., according to police.

They arrived and found a 15-year-old Watsonville boy killed by a single gunshot wound in a bedroom of the apartment. 

The boy's name was not immediately available, police said. The apartment was occupied by many people during the shooting, according to police. 

Officers took all of the occupants to the Santa Cruz Police Department for questioning on Monday night, police said. 

A handgun that officers believed was used in the shooting was found outside the home and had been reported stolen last month. 

The firearm was taken during a burglary of a car parked in the driveway of a home, police said. 

The shooting is being investigated as a homicide and further details were not immediately available, according to police.
