Margaritas for Cinco De Mayo

Recipes from our local BevMo.

With Cinco de Mayo right around the corner, BevMo!’s cocktail experts have crafted some killer margarita recipes to spice up your fiesta.

Whether you’re a cork dork or a beer fanatic, nothing beats a margarita on Cinco de Mayo!

Here are our 5 favorite takes on the classic concoction:

PERFECT MARGARITA

  • 1 oz El Jimador Reposado Tequila
  • 3 oz Jose Cuervo Lime Margarita Mix
  • 1 wedge lime
  • Salt for the rim

Rub rim of a chilled margarita glass with the lime wedge. Dip into salt to coat. Combine tequila and margarita mix in a shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake. Strain into a margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

CUERVO GOLDEN MARGARITA

  • 1 oz Jose Jose Cuervo Reposado Tequila
  • 3 oz Jose Cuervo Lime Margarita Mix
  • .5 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 wedge lime
  • Salt for the rim

Rub rim of a chilled margarita glass with the lime wedge. Dip into salt to coat. Combine tequila, Grand Marnier and margarita mix in a shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake. Strain into a margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

POMEGRANATE LIME MARTINI

  • 1.5 oz 1800 Silver Tequila
  • 3 oz Jose Cuervo Lime Margarita Mix
  • 2 oz Langers Pomegranate Juice
  • .5 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 wheel of lime or lemon
  • Salt for the rim

Rub rim of a chilled martini glass with the lime wedge. Dip into salt to coat. Combine tequila, Grand Marnier and margarita mix in a shaker with ice. Shake, shake, shake. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lime wedge or lemon wheel.

LA PALOMA SUPREMA

  • 1.5 oz Don Julio Reposado Tequila
  • 4 oz Squirt Grapefruit soda
  • 1 wedge lime
  • Salt for the rim

Add tequila and grapefruit soda in salt-rimmed, ice-filled highball glass.  Garnish with a lime wedge.

EL DIABLO

  • 1.5 oz Cazadores Reposado Tequila
  • 1 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
  • .5 oz simple syrup
  • Splash of Ginger Ale
  • 1 wedge of lime

Fill a high-ball or rocks glass with ice. Add tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice, simple syrup. Stir gently. Top with splash of ginger ale. Garnish with a lime wedge.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
