LETTER: Family Says Thanks

Campbell Patch encourages the Campbell community to share its voice, opinion and thoughts through letters to the editor.

Shea Shaw turned 17 this past Sunday and her family tell us that the turnout was great.

Funds that were raised will help Shea with all her therapy and help the family with many of the medical costs, says Michelle Bowen, Robbie Shaw's fiance.

Below is a thank you letter.

Well, I just want to thank every one of you who came out to . What an amazing group of friends we have.

I want to thank you all since the SJ Mercury News man didn't do us justice. Alea Bowen my baby girl and all her cute girlfriends Casey, Sherry, Morgan and Carolina from Los Gatos High for helping me with whenever I needed them to do at anytime.

Also Jessy Pierce and Norma Salazar for all the extra work they did for Vikki getting this fundraiser put together. Juel, Summer, Lilly and Megan, you girls were amazing and so helpful. We just put you out there and you helped with whatever was needed.

Diane Hernandez,Tina Ver-Pacelli,Vickie Roach and Ann Shaw for working the front desk and selling tickets and greeting everyone. David Shaw and Derek Shaw for filling in at every thing that was needed everywhere. These two guys were always there when we need them.

The Ruiz family and friends for their killer BBQ cooking skills. The food turned out great. Mike Fava for donating the BBQ pit and coals. Colleen Hall and Amanda for getting all the linens and balloons for us. Ayana for face-painting. Chad Christopher from Red Robin for helping serve food. Brad and his Bad Boys security group. I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
