LETTER: Campbell Union High School District Supe Responds to Sandy Hook Shootings

Campbell Patch encourages the Campbell community to share its voice, opinion and thoughts through letters to the editor.

We are all saddened by the horrific school shooting that occurred in Connecticut on Friday of last week. Our hearts go out to all those affected. At this time, our psychologists and counseling support staff are prepared and ready to assist students, parents and staff in dealing with this tragedy.

This incident is a stark reminder of the importance of our safety measures at all of our school sites. We have safety procedures and check-in protocols in place at all school sites, and we conduct regular drills involving our local law enforcement agencies to protect our students and staff. Our leadership team continues to work together with local law enforcement, and we employ officers from the San Jose Police Department and Santa Clara County Sheriff on each of our campuses every day.

It is imperative that you assist us as parents in following our front office procedures when arriving on campus. We have procedures in place to ensure we know who is on campus at all times. Please continue to help us by being our eyes and ears and reporting any safety concerns you notice. Your student can also play a part in helping to keep the campus secure by reporting any suspicious activity to an adult.

In closing, I would like to reassure you that all our staff is trained and well prepared to deal with campus safety, security and student needs.
