Gas Leaf Blower Ban

Spare the Air day, yet I can hear the annoying gas leaf blower. I will start a petition to ban gas leaf blowers. This is 2013, I am sure there are better, more quiet and eco friendly options out there.

not only annoying but blowing dust all over, next time you hear one go out side and put some white paper down and watch all the debris collect on it. I agree .... the alternative is a good ole rake and broom....

Good morning Steve and Marry Christmas, While I agree with you whole heartedly about how annoying those gas powered leaf blowers are, they banned them in Palo Alto and now the gardeners use electric powered leaf blowers while dragging behind them, gas powered generators. The only thing this ban accomplished was to make it harder for the guys trying to earn an honest living. As much as I too would like to see the return of the rake and broom, I don't think that will every happen. How about a very quiet solar powered leaf blower?

Customers expect the gardener to get their gardens leafless. If clients would realize that leaves are excellent for using as water saving and weed preventing mulches just on the surface of the soil, and blowing them and raking them to remove them is a current result of the last thirty plus years of blower use. Blowers cost several hundred dollars, they are extremely heavy, the user needs to wear hearing protection, that doesn't work THAT well, and breathing in the pollens and dust is not healthy but whenever I have suggested that I might not need to blow that visit, every time the client insists that I do it. Don't fault the gardener. And trying to do the same result with a rake and broom is not and option, it is not cost effective time wise. Blowers are the tool that gets stolen and are very costly to replace. Most gardeners would be happy never to use a blower again, it is the clients that expect the garden to be leafless.
