Fun Activity Friday - Valentines Day Crafts!

Celebrating Valentines Day with your kiddos!

With Valentines Day around the corner, we did 3 really fun crafts!

The top 2 pics are a Valentines Day album!

What you'll need:
Construction paper
Decorations (buttons, feathers, markers, glue, etc)
Pictures of your child's favorite things!

I took pictures of all of Evie's favorite things (her family, her "B" (a blanket bear), mac and cheese, strawberry ice cream, the beach, the park, etc). I had Evie help me pasted the pictures onto half pieces of construction paper and then I bound them together with a piece of pipe cleaner that she chose. Then I wrote her name in glitter glue on the front and she chose the feathers and glued them on. It came out SUPER cute and she loves to flip through the pictures!

The bottom left corner is a Valentines Matching Game!

What you'll need:
Construction paper
Markers
Scissors
Laminator/Laminating sheets (optional)

What I did was cut out 26 pink hearts and 26 purple hearts. I wrote all capital letters on the pink hearts and lower case letters on the purple ones. Evie is having a tough time with the lower case letters but knows all her upper case letters so this is a great way to help her learn! She has to match the little letters with the big letters...she loves it! You can laminate it if you want to make them last (I plan on doing this when I get around to getting a laminator, haha).

The bottom right corner is a Handprint Valentine!

What you'll need:
White paper
Paint (we used red and pink)
Marker
Construction paper
Marker
Little hands!

I placed my kids hands in the paint and tried to make a heart-ish shape with them. I drew a heart shape around their hands and a little message to Daddy around them. I glued a construction paper heart on the back to make it a little more sturdy. It's a keepsake and a memory!

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
