Campbell is a busy place for events and going-ons. Here are three things to do this weekend.

1. Creek Cleanup

The West Valley Clean Water Program is hosting its International Coastal Cleanup effort in Campbell on Saturday, Sept. 15. 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The cleanup takes place at Los Gatos Creek at Creekside Way, between Hamilton Avenue and Campisi, with parking at the Marriot Hotel. To volunteer, you need to be 16 years or older and can sign up at www.cleanacreek.org or call 408-354-5385.

2. Rummage Sale

The first rummage sale of the season is taking place this Saturday, Sept. 15 from 7:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. at , 65 W Rincon Ave. Items for bargain hunters include: gently used clothing, books and kitchenware.

3. 

Bargain hunters, particularly parents, check out this garage sale on Saturday, Setp. 15 from 8-11:00 a.m. Items include: baby stuff (especially clothes! Boys sizes 0-12 months and girls size 2T), toys, swings, strollers and car seats, blankets, decor and small appliances.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
