Seven Things to Do in Campbell This Weekend

Campbell is loaded with events every week. Here's our "short list" of things to check out before the weekend's over.

Say goodbye to summer and hello to fall, but before you do, check out the action Campbell has to offer this weekend. If we forgot any events, please let us know what, who, when and where in the comments section below.

For now, here’s our short list of fun events this weekend:

1. Food Truck It.

Check out Campbell's very own Blast Off Food Truck in action today, Aug. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 200 E. Hacienda Ave. at the Kaiser Permanente building.

2. Pop the Bubbly.

 is hosting its "2012 Fall Kickoff Grp.E Jeans Trunk Show" tonight, Aug. 9 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Meet Rock N The Trend designer, Lisa Merrett, enjoy a live DJ, live art and of course, some bubbly. 

3. Dance the Night Away.

The  kicks off the warm evening at the with The Hitmen, tonight, Aug. 9 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Remember, no blankets, tarps, setup before 3:00 p.m. or dogs please.

4. Do You Feel Lucky?

Another option for live music is Lady Luck and the Loaded Dice at the  tonight, Aug. 9. The group will be rocking out in front of the .

5. Forget the Drive In.

Watch an outdoor movie in downtown Campbell at the , next to on Friday, Aug. 10 from 8:00 to 1:00 p.m. Showing, 1964's Mary Poppins.

6. Make an Addition to Your Family.

The Humane Society Silicon Valley is hosting its "Adopt a Pet Olympics" this Saturday, Aug. 11 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Watch these pooches do agility courses and then eat some goodies at the two food trucks at the event. All adoptables are 50 percent off. 

7. Get Your Brew On.

San Jose Beer Walk is moseying over to downtown Campbell this Saturday, Aug. 11 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Take in 20 beer tastings for $30 (tasting glass included) before the event, $35 day of. Benefits the Downtown Campbell Business Association.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
