Our second love story comes from Campbell Mom Squad member Rachael Ustorf. Her's is story that seems perfect for Silicon Valley: a chance encounter online.
Here is her story.
I met my husband on Myspace in July of 2007. The first time I saw his profile I knew I had to meet him.
Our first "real time" conversation was on IM, (I found out later that he created an account just to talk to me). We spoke for 10 minutes before I gave him my phone number. He called immediately and we ended up talking until 3:00 in the morning. It was on that phone call that we first exchanged, "I love you"s.
Three long days later we met in person. I recognized him from down the street by his walk. The minute our hands touched I felt that I had known him all my life; like we had been old friends from a very young age, and he'd been away for the past 20 years. It was one of the most amazing feelings I've ever experienced.
Two weeks later, on a trip to meet his family in Rhode Island, he proposed to me with his late mother's engagement ring. I moved in with him in August, and we were married on Christmas Eve 2007. We moved from NY to CA in January 2008, we learned we were expecting a baby in March and our beautiful daughter was born in November. Four years later we're still going strong.
The funniest thing to me about the way we met, is that we worked within three blocks of each other and got off at the same subway stop for years, but we never would have met if it wasn't for Myspace. And, although we drive each other crazy sometimes (think Lucy and Ricky), I love him like no other and couldn't imagine my life without him.
