The Happy Couple

A blog about being young, married and having a roller coaster life!

You are probably wondering why we call ourselves "The Happy Couple." Well, it is because we are happy 100% of our lives and have no arguments. Just kidding.

We are like any other couple and have arguments about not putting the dishes in the dishwasher, buying another pair of shoes, or why we started buying our dog, Roscoe, the most expensive food there is for a dog. As a couple that met at the age of 16 and 18 and got married five years later, now going on to six years of marriage, I guess you can say we have had some experience. Of course, we both owe it to both of our parents that have been both married for around 35 years now.

Anyways, the reason why we are the "The Happy Couple" is because we strive to be the role model for young couples today. In this generation, people are getting married at an older age and the divorce rate is at a shocking 50% rate and possibly higher. We do attend church regularly and owe all of our happiness to putting God first before everything. When your life is in His hands, there is no need to stress. We will be trying to blog on a regular basis and hope you get to know us more each time. Our goal is to inspire and put a smile on someones face.

Now onto us. Justin and I (Summer) met working at Great America one summer (no pun intended). I was dancing in one of the shows and Justin hosted the Nickelodeon show (Yeah we made our own slime there! We are sad to see Nickelodeon gone now.) After a month of me trying to get his attention, he finally asked me out on a date. You know how the date went so we can skip those details.

Ever since then, we have been on a roller coaster (no not literally). I moved to Los Angeles after two years to pursue a professional dancing career. After a year and a half of being out there, I gave Justin an ultimatum. It was either him move out there or it  was over. Good thing, he chose right, because we got married a couple of months later and best part of all, he met a drum performing group called Street Drum Corps that he still works for today.

LA was fun, but after five years we did not feel fulfilled. I was tired of proving myself based on looks and not talent and we missed family. We moved back to the Bay Area and will never leave. (Except if we decide to move to Hawaii. We are on a plane right now coming back from the Big Island. Our next few blogs will be about our adventure.)

I ended up getting my degree in Health Science at San Jose State University. I am now working at a physical therapy office and dance on the side for a local football team. Justin works part time at a local theme park and can be seen playing drums for Street Drum Corps and his local band .

That is us in a nutshell. Thanks for reading and look for our next blog about our Hawai'i trip! For some reason we never have a dull moment wherever we go!

~Summer~

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
