The Bay Area Welcomes "The X Factor"

A story about our trip to the taping of the hit television show, "The X Factor."

This past Sunday and Monday we had the unique opportunity to attend the taping of the television show "The X Factor" at the Oracle Arena. For those of you who have never heard of this show, it is a singing competition that lasts several weeks and ends with the winner receiving a $5 million dollar recording contract with Epic Records. The show features judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears, L.A. Reid and Demi Lovato.

We went to support the singer in my band "POUNDERS," Chris Pounders. He was one out of thousands who auditioned that made the cut. He was supposed to audition on Sunday night but got moved to Monday due to time running out. However, on Sunday night he had the unique opportunity to sit next to Gene Simmons of "KISS" who happened to be there on Father's Day to support his daughter Sophie. Chris conversed with him for an extended period of time until it was Sophie's time to audition. The night got later and later and the Producer asked Chris to come back on Monday.

We headed to the taping on Monday with Chris and our friend and YouTube sensation, Jumoke Hill. As we arrived, we were rushed to a small room full of potiental singers that were about to take the stage in front of the judges. There were young singers, older singers, family groups and even a drag queen.

Finally, it was time. The Producer escorted us to the stage.  We could hear the crowd cheering and also booing at the various singers that were auditioning. Now, it was Chris' time to audition his original song, "Always on my Mind" in front of thousands of screaming fans and the four judges. Before he began, Demi Lovato said, "I like your pink hair, twinsies!" Then, the track came on through the entire Oakland Arena and Chris sung to the massive crowd.

Did he make the cut? You will have to find out when "The X Factor" launches its two-night season premiere event on Wednesday, September 12 and Thursday, September 13 (8:00 - 9:00pm ET/PT). Find out more info on Chris Pounders at PoundersBand.com and on the “The X Factor” at TheXFactorUSA.com
