BYR of Belgium Celebrates National Day

The downtown Campbell eatery will be hosting a celebration July 21, from 2:30-5:30 p.m.

On July 21, Leopold of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld becomes the first king of Belgium. So why not celebrate with waffles, beer and more?

is hosting a Belgian National Day celebration on Saturday, July 21 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. The event will be complete with balloon artist and face painting as well as 25 percent off  through Sunday, July 22.

Haven't tried this latest eatery to open shop in downtown Campbell? This might be a good time to check it out. For added measure and to get into the spirit of things, stop by dressed up in BYR, waive a Belgian flag, show a handmade BYR sign or any other creative display of BYR colors.

I remember the first Belgium waffler I had. I was in high school and they had waffle making tables, so students could make their own. It's definitely an art to make a perfect one (we had timers to remind us when to flip them over) , but regardless of what it looks like, it's delicious! BTW, a tip for the health conscious people out there ... instead of syrup, try putting yogurt and fresh cut fruit. Yummy!
