3nd Annual Broc Glover Breathe Easy Ride (Bay Area) Fundraiser

The 40 mile motorcycle ride fundraiser will be held at MetroED’s Central County Occupational Center (CCOC), at 760 Hillsdale Avenue, San Jose, on October 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  All proceeds from the event benefit the CF Foundation and last year’s event raised more than $16,000!

Visit http://Ber-BayArea.com to pre-register and help raise money to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.  Cost to pre-register is $25 which includes a light breakfast at check in, lunch from BJ’s Restaurant and a rider goodie bag.  The ride itself is a 40 mile, 1 hour and 15 minute ride that will take riders through San Jose, Saratoga, and Los Gatos before returning to CCOC.

The event also features biker celebrities, music, complimentary lunch provided by BJ’s restaurant, a raffle, and a silent auction. Activities are also planned for family and friends who come to the event but aren’t participating in the bike ride.

Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects more than 30,000 people in the United States and 70,000 people worldwide.  The disease causes the body to produce a thick mucus that clogs the lungs and can lead to life threatening lung infections.  It also obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes, preventing the body from breaking down and absorbing food.

The BERBA ride is organized by San Jose residents, Brett Barker, who suffers from CF and who recently received a double lung transplant and his girlfriend, Amber Van Der Veen, an English teacher at Santa Teresa High School.
