Mark your calendar and slip on your party shoes! Morgan Autism Center –MAC– will host the sixth-annual Starry Starry Night gala celebration April 6th at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

MAC will present the 2013 Outstanding Leadership Award to the Reverend Peter Pabst, President of the Sacred Heart Nativity School and Our Lady of Grace Nativity School. Past honorees have included Anna and Albert Wang and Dr. Ruth Cook of Santa Clara University.

The evening will feature artwork created by MAC students and include a festive wine reception and dinner. Guests will have a chance to bid on auction items of all shapes and sizes, including tickets to a taping of “Dancing with the Stars” in Los Angeles and exciting getaways. Tickets go fast and the event sells out every year.

This year’s Honorary Event Chair is Helen Marchese Owen, one of Silicon Valley’s most committed volunteers. Proceeds from this year’s event are targeted to support art and music programs at MAC and for the purchase of electronic communications devices.

Autism spectrum disorder diagnoses are on the rise and have more than tripled statewide in the last ten years. Morgan Autism Center provides the support that students and adult clients need to maximize their potential in a dignified, positive and loving environment.

You’re invited to come out to help support our work. For more information or to buy tickets, visit www.morgancenter.org or call 408.241.8161

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
