Measure E Election Info and Key Dates to Know

As it's an odd year, there's only one measure on the ballot that affects Campbell residents. 

Measure E, which requires two-thirds approval to pass, was put forth by the Campbell Union High School District. It states:

To support quality education in local high schools with funds that cannot be taken by the State, including academic instruction in science, math, English, Advanced Placement, art, music, technology, vocational courses; recruit/retain qualified teachers; maintain small class sizes; and provide safe/clean schools; shall Campbell Union High School District renew — with no tax increase — an existing $85 annual parcel tax for eight years, with exemptions for seniors and qualified disabled citizens, independent fiscal oversight, and no administrator salaries?

Here are some key dates to know, thanks to the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters:

WRITE-IN CANDIDACY: If you want to cast your name into the hat for a race, you've got until Oct. 22 to obtain and file nomination documents.

FINANCE STATEMENT BY CANDIDATES: If you're interested in who is funding candidates' campaigns, the Fair Political Practice Commission's first deadline for candidates to report that information is Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013. 

VOTE BY MAIL: Vote by mail ballots will be sent out Oct. 7.

REGISTER TO VOTE: Oct. 21 is the deadline to register to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 5, 2013 election. 

SECOND FINANCIAL REPORT DUE: Oct. 24 is the deadline for the second financial disclosure report (Form 460) covering the period of Sept. 22 to Oct. 19. 

REQUEST VOTE BY MAIL BALLOT: Oct. 29 is the last day to request a mail-in ballot. 

ELECTION DAY: NOV. 5. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
