Did You Feel the Several Earthquakes in the South Bay?

A small tremblor struck Christmas Day during the lunch hour, but no one reported feeling it on the USGS website.

 

The ground has been busy shaking these past few days in the South Bay.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.4 struck near Milpitas Christmas Day, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck at 12:29 p.m. with its epicenter about 7 miles northeast of Milpitas. The quake had a depth of about 4.7 miles, according to the USGS.

That same day, a magnitude 2.2 earthquake struck near Alum Rock, about 9 miles east of San Jose. The quake had a depth of about 5 miles, according to USGS.

Just a few days prior, a similar sized earthquake shook the area near this one. A magnitude 2.4 struck east of Milpitas on Dec. 22. The quake had a depth of about 4.7 miles, according to the USGS.
