After Less Than a Year, BYR of Belgium Closes its Doors

The local restaurant will be the second location between First and Second streets on Campbell Avenue to close.

After less than a year downtown, BYR of Belgium has closed its doors.

"Unfortunately, the food business is a tough one to be in," says Campbell Project Manager Francine Principe.

Principe told the Downtown Campbell Business Association at its monthly meeting Wednesday that the restaurant at 193 E Campbell Ave. had approached her in early November to let her know that it would not be open much longer.

The business' Facebook page went quiet after Nov. 21.

Citing issues with staff and conflict with schedules (the owner also had a full-time job), the food and beer establishment closed its doors quietly, Principe said.

According to Principe, there are already tenants lined up and in direct conversation with BYR owners and the space will probably be filled quickly.

I know. It was on my "list" of places in town to check out. I just hadn't made it that far down Campbell Avenue. ...

Menu was too strange (waffles, meatballs And beer). I never thought it would work. Just like the previous. Good location doesn't always equate to success.

Food was marginal at best. Didn't miss much
