11 Ways To Use Campbell Patch in 2013

This site is designed for you, our readers. Find out how you can better use it.

It's a new year Campbell and although many of you are Campbell Patch champs, we've got a few tips to make sure you are getting as much out of us as you can.

Here are 10 ways you can use Campbell Patch to stay informed and inform others.

1. Know before you go.

Wonder if traffic is backed up on Highway 17? Or where you should fill the gas tank before you hit the road? Always check our Commute section under the "More Stuff" tab at the top of the page before you get stuck in a jam.

2. Add photos any time you like.

Our Pics and Clips at the top of the page is growing with every upload you and your neighbors make. Have great shots from the game last night, or wildlife spotted around the Los Gatos Creek Trail? Maybe you shot a quick video of the rain or the latest farmers' market? Now you can share it with everyone else in town—and an easy spot for your family and friends to find it.

3. Tell neighbors about a great shopping or dining experience.

Who better to trust with a review of a business than a neighbor? You can rate businesses—good or bad—by going to their Directory page in the navigational bar above, and sharing your thoughts.

4. Share an opinion.

Comment on stories, add to the conversation. What you think matters, so tell the rest of us what is on your mind.

5. Let us know about a great story.

Did you attend a fantastic PTA event or an exciting game? Maybe you went to dinner at a new place and were blown away. Email us a write-up and a picture or two and we may post it on Campbell Patch.

6. Blog.

Want to share on a regular basis? Show off your expertise and become a go-to source by becoming a Local Voices blogger. Let us know your idea and we'll set you up right away.

7. Post announcements for free.

The old days of paying a publication to publish a wedding announcement or an obituary are history! Now you can tell the town when you get married, have lost a loved one, a lost pet, have a baby, graduate or make the honor roll.

8. Give us a piece of your mind.

Thank someone or let us know what you think of a topic by submitting a Letter to the Editor via email that we'll publish on the site.

9. Get your news delivered every day.

Sign up for our daily/weekly/breaking news newsletter link found on the bottom of the home page. Wake up and have Campbell Patch in your email inbox with the latest, freshest news around.

10. Get social with us.

We love social media and have a robust community on Facebook (1.1K fans), Twitter (1.1K followers) and Instagram (281 followers). Check us out, share with your family and friends and join the virtual community!

11. There's an App for that!

We understand that many Campbell residents are always on the go, so take Campbell Patch with you with an iphone/android app!

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
