Will You Queue Up for the Latest iPad?

Online pre-order sales are sold out; retail stores will have them as of Friday.

The latest iPad is sold out online so those looking to snag the new device best prepare to stand in long lines on Friday; some in London are reportedly camping out already.

What buyers will get on the new iPad—not called iPad 3 bythe way—is “a crisper Retina display, faster processor, voice dictation and the ability to run on the speediest 4G wireless data networks,” according to USAToday.

Two fan boys in London are enamored enough with the updates that SlashGear found them in line for the long haul—lots of warm clothing and the requisite folding chair—at an Apple store on Regent Street.

The first ship date for pre-order online sales is March 19; three days after the iPad will be available for purchase in retail stores. Prices start at $499 for the WiFi version, and $629 for the 4G version, minus the data plan.

In Campbell, the Verizon Wireless store at 535 West Hamilton Ave. has confirmed that they will be carrying the new iPad and have already been taking deposits. The Verizon Wireless store at 900 E. Hamilton Ave. however, has not received confirmation on whether they will carry the new gadget.

Those in Cupertino will have to leave their ZIP code to find a new iPad—the store at Apple’s headquarters won’t have any in stock for a while since most of its customers are Apple employees who aren’t eligible for employee discounts on new releases.

Nearby stores that will likely have a line for those looking for a social experience—and the latest Apple gadget—can start with Valley Fair.

Other locations include Los Gatos, at 23 N. Santa Cruz Ave.; Oakridge Mall in San Jose; two locations in Palo Alto—Stanford Mall and 451 University Ave.

If you're among the brave who queues up, let us know and send us a photo from your vantage point.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
