Dine Out for Meals on Wheels

Today, eat out for a good cause: seniors.

Local restaurants throughout the Bay Area will be donating a portion of the day’s proceeds to Santa Clara County Meals on Wheels, a service of the Senior Nutrition Program that has been delivering meals to homebound seniors for more than 30 years.

In Campbell, Hobee's at the Pruneyard and Dairy Queen are both participating. Hobee's will be donating 10 percent of its proceeds from meals purchased after 5 p.m. to the cause.

According to the Dine Out for Meals on Wheels website, the group is partnering with Meals on Wheels organizations in the seven counties encircling the Bay, who deliver nearly three million meals each year to more than 8,500 seniors in need of hot, nutritious meals each day.

The group anticipates that more than 200 restaurants will join this effort across the seven counties.
