Black Friday Shoppers in Campbell in Good Spirits

Lines at the Fry's Electronics and Kohl's Department Store wrapped around each building.

Black Friday kicked off at 12:00 a.m. at the , and in Campbell with crowds waiting in lines in the hopes of getting a good deal.

Van Cao and Trien Nguyen of San Jose both came out to Fry's together. It's Cao's fourth Black Friday and Nguyen's second.

"We're out just to have some fun," Cao says. "Get into the feel of Black Friday."

Last year, the two got to the electronic's store at 10:00 p.m., six hours before opening time at 4:00 a.m. the following day. This year they made it out later, closer to 11:30 p.m.

For David Gurrola and Apurva Alsk, both from Santa Clara, the line at Fry's was less intimidating than the one at the Best Buy at Santana Row.

"It was ridiculous," Alsk says.

Glad to see people were at least in good spirits about it! Usually the media only shows the pushing and fighting. Also thought it was cool that a couple of the groups do it every year as a traditional "reunion". Funny that the guy who was first in line at Fry's had no idea what he was there to buy, only that he wanted to be first in line.

Agreed! That's what I was really taken by, actually. This was my first time going out at that time to see the lines. Everything was well controlled, and people looked like they were having fun. At Fry's, Campbell PD was directing traffic and keeping an eye on things. Kohl's was very orderly. I didn't see any unhappy faces. All in all, a good impression for my first Black Friday ;)
