Asian Bistro, formally a San Jose hot spot, has made a new home at 851 W. Hamilton Ave. in a nondescript lot across from the Hamilton Shopping Center.

Chef and owner Andy Lau jumped at the opportunity to open Asian Bistro in Campbell earlier this year when hand-picked by the original owners.

Lau has made a name for himself by learning from chefs across California restaurants for the past 20 years. Asian Bistro is Lau’s mission to provide a quality he hasn’t yet seen.

Asian Bistro features only organic local ingredients and U.S. grown meats. Everything served here is free of MSG and healthy enough to eat every day. This attention to detail has earned Asian Bistro top marks on Yelp.com

The Honey Walnut Prawn dish is a gastronomic awakening. Lau’s secret for preserving as much flavor as possible is slow cooking. The Pho (noodle) soup has been taken to a new level. Even for the broth, Lau uses prime cuts of beef.

The menu is entirely in English and descriptions follow every item, taking the mine field out of ordering ethnic foods. Entrees average $7 to $9 and vary widely. A hefty portion of the menu includes vegetarian options. Vegans and patrons with other dietary restrictions can also be accommodated.

Asia Bistro has settled nicely in Campbell. The restaurant’s bar features two framed pictures: one of Lau’s home town of Saigon City and one of Campbell.

For him, having a successful restaurant in this city gives his food validity.

“The people in Campbell love good food,” says Lau.
