An Obama, Romney 'Smear Campaign'

Local business owner Joanne Gutowski-Joplin is selling these dog poop bags at her store, Okashi Barkery.

There's a month and 11 days left before the Nov. 6 elections and emotions are running high no matter whom you're supporting.

"This time of year, all politicians are full of poop," says Okashi Barkery owner Joanne Gutowski-Joplin. "And it doesn't matter who I support. It gets ugly on both sides."

Gutowski-Joplin is offering doggie poop bags with both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney's faces on them at her pet boutique. The shop owner saw the novelty bags at the Super Zoo National Pet Retailers trade show in Las Vegas Sept. 11 and thought they were funny.

"I couldn't fit too many in my suitcase so I only came home with about a dozen of each," she says.

She's currently down to about a dozen total and they cost $9 each. The bags are made by Metro Paws and include 80 individual baggies.

So far, she says that customers coming in to the E. Campbell Avenue pet shop just laugh when they see the bags.

"Everyone has a strong opinion on who they support," Gutowski-Joplin says. "That's why I got both."

As for which doggie bags she'll be using, Gutowski-Joplin says her choice has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with being a pet lover.

"I wanted to get the Romney ones because he put his dog (Seamus) on the roof of his car," she says. "It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with putting a dog on the roof of a car."
