An Obama, Romney 'Smear Campaign'

Local business owner Joanne Gutowski-Joplin is selling these dog poop bags at her store, Okashi Barkery.

There's a month and 11 days left before the Nov. 6 elections and emotions are running high no matter whom you're supporting.

"This time of year, all politicians are full of poop," says Okashi Barkery owner Joanne Gutowski-Joplin. "And it doesn't matter who I support. It gets ugly on both sides."

Gutowski-Joplin is offering doggie poop bags with both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney's faces on them at her pet boutique. The shop owner saw the novelty bags at the Super Zoo National Pet Retailers trade show in Las Vegas Sept. 11 and thought they were funny.

"I couldn't fit too many in my suitcase so I only came home with about a dozen of each," she says.

She's currently down to about a dozen total and they cost $9 each. The bags are made by Metro Paws and include 80 individual baggies.

So far, she says that customers coming in to the E. Campbell Avenue pet shop just laugh when they see the bags.

"Everyone has a strong opinion on who they support," Gutowski-Joplin says. "That's why I got both."

As for which doggie bags she'll be using, Gutowski-Joplin says her choice has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with being a pet lover.

"I wanted to get the Romney ones because he put his dog (Seamus) on the roof of his car," she says. "It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with putting a dog on the roof of a car."

lol, there's actually an online game about Romney's dog Seamus now. You play as the dog and can poop on the roof of the car. seamus-the-dog.com

That's right. We are all people whether democrat or republican. All that matters is family and that includes the furry ones.

Lol. Wow. It's interesting to see what can be found (and the things that have been created) by people that are passionate. :) Thanks for sharing!

Oh jeez now that is a little ridiculous. Funny, but ridiculous.

Lucy J.: so you're saying you wouldn't pick up doggie poop with these bags? I think they'd definitely be a conversation starter ;)

Well seeing as I'm more of a cat person, probably not. But yes they would indeed start a conversation!

Hahaha! Yes, I can see that being a different situation but hey, I've seen people walking their cats too: http://campbell.patch.com/articles/on-a-cat-walk#photo-4598179 :)
