Campbell Salon Wants to Blow Out Breast Cancer

Local hair salon E11even is raising money for the Christina Applegate Right Action for Women Foundation.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this local Campbell business is joining in the fight.

E11even Salon and Boutique on Bascom Avenue is holding its "Blow Out Breast Cancer" fundraiser through the month of October. Customers can come in for a shampoo, blow dry and style and 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Christina Applegate Right Action for Women Foundation.

"I think it's one that not many know about it and we love Cristina Applegate, we really like her," says salon coordinatior Rachel Rees on the decision to support the Right Action for Women Foundation. "It's not just going to research but directly to people who can’t afford screenings."

According to its website, the foundation, a 501(c)(3) company, aims at aiding those women that are at an increased risk of breast cancer and that may not be able to financially afford screenings.

The website also states that there are 250,000 women under the age of 40 that are breast cancer survivors.

"Honestly, I am shocked everyday to find out that we have so many clients that know someone, have had it or are going through it now," Rees says. "On a personal level, we know so many women who have been impacted and we would like to help."

All of the eight stylists at the salon are participating and appointments are strongly encouraged. The cost for services are $25 and up, dependent on stylist.
