Viewfinder: Westmont High School's Future Farmers of America Host a Public Plant Sale

Local nonprofit organization helps raise money for school's agricultural science program.

In partnership with the Campbell Future Farmers of America Boosters Club, 's agricultural science program hosted a public plant sale Saturday to raise money for the program.

The four-year program is the only one of its kind in the area, and participating students earn university credit. Students focus on the business aspect of farming and are responsible for buying, raising and, eventually, selling the farm animals in the program, said Dave Duarte, agricultural department head at Westmont.

Saturday's plant sale was organized by the FFA Boosters. More than 60 types of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers were sold at the plant sale for $2 each.
