Music, Theater and a Food Festival

Those are some of your choices in Campbell this weekend.

See West Valley Light Opera's production of a top Broadway musical, or see the kids at Westmont High in their rendition of another. You've got a couple of musical choices and a wonderful food festival in San Jose.  Campbell Patch has taken the planning hassles out of our weekend with our suggestions. So go ahead Campbell, and Get Out!

Where/When: Saratoga Civic Theater, 13777 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.  Plays again next weekend, too.

Why Go: The Tony Award-winning musical was great on Broadway, and it will be great here as well. Who will win the Spelling Bee? Go see the play to find out!

Pricing: $18-$30

Where/When: , 4805 Westmont Ave., Friday and Saturday, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Why Go:  This is the last weekend the students will be presenting this place. Try to make it this Friday or Saturday. The play is set in the '50s and tells the tale of a murder investigation of an aging Broadway star.

Where/When: Heritage Theatre, 1. W. Campbell Ave., Sunday, 7 p.m.

Why Go:  Diamond Rio is a country music group that has been around since 1984. They have had three platinum albums and won the Country Music Associations' Vocal Group of the Year award four times. They have many other accolades, but why list them all, when you can hear for yourself just how good they are by coming to their concert.

Pricing: $ 46-$51

Where/When: 1 N. Almaden Ave. and West Saint John Street, San Jose, Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Why Go: Are you kidding? Food truck food is our latest Northern California trend. And there will be at least 20 trucks there offering all kinds of food. They will be serving lunch (11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) and dinner (5-9 p.m.) With so many choices, perhaps you want to try lunch AND dinner!

Pricing:  Depends on what you eat.

Where/When:  , 16330 Los Gatos Blvd., Los Gatos, Sunday, 3 p.m.

Why Go: Do you ever long to hear the music of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington and others from the Big Band era? Well, this Sunday is a chance to hear the big-band sound once again. The 65-piece California Pops Orchestra will offer its musical tribute, joined by the Black Tie Jazz Band.
