1.  RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY AT LA CASITA DE KALEIDOSCOPES

Where/When:, 389 E. Campbell Ave., Thursday, 5:30-7 p.m.

Why Go: La Casita de Kaleidoscopes invites you to celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting! Meet the mayor of Campbell and friends, help us celebrate and allow us to share the history and beauty of the kaleidoscope with you.

2.   THE 34TH ANNUAL VALENTINE FUN-RUN WALK

Where/When: , Gilman Avenue and East Campbell Avenue, Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Because it's a fun-run walk, and everyone will be there. There's 10K and 5K divisions for all ages. Something for everyone. Start/finish line is at Campbell Park on the basketball courts.

Pricing: Free trails; $30 per adult, $15 per child for the run.

3. VALENTINE'S DAY AT CYPRESS BISTRO

Where/When: , 379 E. Campbell Ave., Monday (Valentine's Day) 4-10 p.m.

Why Go: Because Valentine's Day is the day. Guests will enjoy a special holiday a la carte menu plus great organic wine pairings and tasting flights.

4.  AN EVENING WITH MAYA ANGELOU

Where/When: , 307 Church St., Saturday, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Maya Angelou is a remarkable Renaissance woman, hailed as one of the great voices of contemporary literature. An opportunity to hear her speak and read from her work is an opportunity not to be missed. A little bit far, but well worth it.

5.  SONOMA CHICKEN COOP PRESENTS MAXX CABELLO JR.

Where/When: , 200 E. Campbell Ave., Campbell, Thursday, 8:30-11 p.m.

Why Go: An evening of blues and rock with Maxx Cabello Jr. This amazing 22-year-old guitarist, vocalist and songwriter is turning the heads and bending the ears of the most jaded veteran musicians and music aficionados. No cover charge. Just bring yourself and your friends.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
