Fishing, a Film Festival and Mother's Day Brunch

Free fishing for your kids or grandkids if you take them along, a film festival for seniors, a choice of concerts and a Mother's Day Brunch are just some of the offerings as you Get Out in Campbell this weekend.

Where/When:  , Dell Ave & E Hacienda Ave. Saturday, Sunday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Why Go: Before you get too excited, this is free fishing for KIDS. But if you take your son or daughter, we guarantee, it will be fun for you, too. Yes, this should have gone in our Kids Planner, but we just found out about this and couldn't pass it up.

Besides, we all like the idea of fishing at any age.  And as organizers say, adults are welcome, but this time it's the kids who get to fish. And you can always volunteer to help out your child or any other kid who needs a hand putting on their bait or taking off their fish!

Where/When: Montalvo Arts Center, 5400 Montalvo Rd, Saratoga, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go:  It's May, it's spring and time to celebrate that. Silicon Valley Poet Laureate Emeritus Nils Peterson and the Silicon Valley Singers present a symphony of songs to celebrate the  “Merry Month of May.” 

Pricing: $15 general public, $10 member

Where/When: Good Samaritan Hospital, Health to You Auditorium, 2425 Samaritan Drive, San Jose, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Why Go: A day of films that focuses on seniors. These movies emphasize positive aging. Events include presentations from filmakers.  The films to be shown include Close Harmony, an Academy Award-winning documentary about a senior citizen chorus and an elementary school chorus who practice for a combined concert, and "Shattering the Myth of Aging," about seniors in their  70s, 80s and 90s who compete in demanding sports at the Senior Olympics. There's much more, too many to list here.

Pricing:  $10, includes box lunch

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Sunday, Presentation Center, 19480 Bear Creek Road.

Why Go: A Mother's Day brunch for the family. The event begins with Mass at 10 a.m. and then brunch will be served. Brunch includes first and foremost a flower for Mom, mimosas, smoked salmon with mini bagels, carved leg of lamb, New York strip loin, eggs benedict, bacon, pancakes, an assortment of desserts and family style seating at tables of eight.

Pricing: $38.95 for adults and $22.95 for children ages 5-12.

When/Where: 8:00 p.m., Friday, , 20 University Ave. Los Gatos

Why Go:  This is the last sunset concert of the season to put on by St. Luke's. This time around the Flanders Recorder Quartet will be performing.
