A Festival of Masses
This concert will track the evolution of musical styles in Western Europe from the 17th century to the 20th. We start in Renaissance Spain with Tomás Luis de Victoria‘s Missa O Quam Gloriosum, then move to 19th-century Germany with Josef Rheinberger‘s Mass in E flat major for Double Choir, and arrive in the 20th century with the Mass in G of that iconoclastic Frenchman, Francis Poulenc. Finally, we‘ll send you on your way with a rousing benediction by Estonian composer Urmas Sisask.
