Dogs Days of Summer Kick of First Friday

The weather report says it will be in the 80s and Campbell invites everyone (including the pooches) to come down tonight for a waggin' good time.

First Fridays in downtown Campbell kicked off last month with a and this month, things have gone to the dogs.

The Dog Days of Summer is June's theme and offers up a chance to bring the four legged friends in your life downtown to enjoy the good weather, live music, a doggie costume contest, an adopt-a-thon and loads more.

So what's a First Friday, you ask? It's an event that happens on the first Friday of every month in downtown Campbell rain or shine. They from month to month, take place from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and are family-friendly.

Local shops stay open later, live music is played throughout the downtown and various eateries pull out the stops. Tonight, check out all the pet-friendly merchants (each will have balloons out front) and grab a goodie for your pooch.

On June 1, the doggie costume contest encourages pets to get into character. Categories include:

This will take place at 7:00 p.m. in The Courtyard, where , and are located, and gift baskets and costumes were provided by (who will also have a booth outside of ).

When your pooch finished showing off for the judges they can partake in the "Dog Walk on the Avenue" at 7:30 p.m. and show off to the rest of downtown Campbell. The meeting place is The Courtyard.

The Humane Society Silicon Valley Pet Adoption Booth will be set up at Sonya Paz Gallery, so if you are looking for a new member of the family, this might be a good place to stop and check things out.
