VIDEO: Campbell Resident Offers a Banging Good Time

Justin Imamura from Campbell is performing in San Jose tonight with his drumming group, Street Drum Corps.

Residents of Campbell live many lives. Some , others  and some travel the globe . This resident lives his life to the beat of a drum, literally.

Justin Imamura, one of three members of is part of a larger group called Street Drum Corps, a theatrical drumming troupe that takes its show on the road, wowing both adults and children alike.

Imamura has been with the group for seven years now and auditioned in Los Angeles with the three founding members. The group now boasts more than 30 drummers and performs at theme parks, sporting events, fairs and has made appearances on the Conan O'Brien show and American Idol.

"I love the energy and the fact that we get to bang on recycled objects instead of a traditional drum kit," Imamura says. "It's a totally new circus and medium to drum on. And every member is super cool. That’s what makes it fun."

The group played the main stage at San Jose's Subzero Festival in June and recently received "Best Ensemble" from Drum Magazine, beating out Blue Man Group. Tonight, they return to San Jose to be presented with their award and will emcee and perform at tonight's Drum Night 2012 at the San Jose Repertory Theatre.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
