Campbell Gears Up for Beer Walk 2013

Second annual Beer Walk in downtown Campbell takes place July 31.

Summer is cranking up the heat but downtown Campbell has the perfect solution: cold beer.

That's right. It's time for the second annual Beer Walk in Campbell and tickets are on sale here. Tickets ($30 in advance, $35 at the door) include a souvenir glass and 20 beer samples.

"If you ever been to a wine walk, this is very similar," says Jordan Trigg, event organizer and owner of Liquid Bread and Spread in downtown Campbell. "It’s a little more fun, a little more carefree."

The event, part of the inaugural Silicon Valley Beer Week, takes place Wednesday, July 31 from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Campbell, with two check-in locations: Khartoum (300 Orchard City Dr.) and Sonoma Chicken Coop (200 E Campbell Ave.). And for the early-birds, the first 50 people to check-in receive a complimentary tour of Campbell Brewing Company.

There will be 20 downtown Campbell businesses hosting 20 breweries, each offering a 2-3 ounce taste of their brews.

The event originated in San Jose's Japantown and has since grown to include Mountain View and Campbell. Santana Row and Willow Glen beer walks will follow the Orchard City's event.

"Lagunitas and firestone are always staples at the events," Trigg says. "This year, we will have Santa Clara Valley Brewing Company with an IPA and Porter. The brewery has only been out there for two or three months and is a really good local brewer."

Anchor Brewing with their Zymaster Series and 21st Amendment with their High or Hell Watermelon Wheat.

Proceeds of the event help benefit the Downtown Campbell Business Association as well as the Bay Brewers Guild, both non-profit organizations. Campbell and Rock Bottom breweries are members of the BBG and both will be pouring at the event.

Participating breweries include:

  • Speakeasy
  • Mendocino
  • Strike
  • Faultline
  • Gordon Biersch
  • Hermitage
  • Firestone Walker
  • Anchor
  • Santa Cruz Ale Works
  • Lagunitas
  • Almanac
  • New Belgium
  • Sierra Nevada
  • Devil's Canyon

Only beer tasters need to purchase tickets. Designated Drivers are free to attend. Children in strollers and dogs are welcome but may not be allowed in some tasting locations, at the location discretion.

Please note: Event is rain or shine. All tastings are 2-3 ounces. Only 1 tasting per location per person. Drinks must be consumed inside the tasting locations. We do not guarantee that everyone will make it to every tasting location. All breweries, beers, and participating businesses are subject to change.
