It may be hard to believe, but spring hasn't quite sprung.
Wednesday marks the vernal equinox in the northern hemisphere and the first day of spring.
Of course, Campbell has already logged plenty of spring-like, sunshine-filled days in 2013. The mild winter has resulted in below-normal rainfall and bright bursts of yellow daffodil blossoms.
But there's a chance of a little rain Wednesday morning with a high of 64 degrees, according to AccuWeather.com, and about five cloudy days at the end of the month. Check out the complete extended forecast here.
The Farmer's Almanac is predicting generally pleasant, spring weather across California in the coming months, with a chance of showers the first and third weeks of April.
The equinox means more daylight, warmer temperatures and the rebirth of flora and fauna, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac. The word equinox is derived from the Latin words meaning “equal night,” according to the almanac. Days and nights are approximately equal, and the sun rises and sets due east and west.
Spring also means Easter is right around the corner (March 31) and vegetable garden-planting time has almost arrived. (And for Campbell, this means that the Eggstravaganza and the Bunnies & Bonnets Parade are coming up, both on March 30)
Spring will last three months until June 21, and summer will carry on until the autumnal equinox on Sept. 22 at 4:44 p.m, according to the U.S. Naval Observatory.
