If you commute via Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) into downtown San Jose for work or other business, give yourself extra time on Thursday.
This March 7 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., VTA will reroute bus lines 22 and 522 to minimize delays due to the heavy traffic expected from the number of attendees who will converge at the HP Pavilion to pay their respects to the two Santa Cruz police officers killed in the line of duty last week. The service starts at Noon.
VTA Lines 22 and 522 will be rerouted from Santa Clara Street between First Street and Naglee Avenue/Taylor Street. VTA will then operate special bus shuttles to provide service for customers who need to access the stops between First Street and Naglee Avenue/Taylor Street.
People planning to attend the memorial service should consider taking the VTA Light Rail and debark at either the San Fernando Station or Diridon Station or Caltrain to San Jose Diridon Station located at 95 Cahill Street. That station is a 5 minute walk to the HP Pavilion.
Caltrain also announced that it will provide complimentary service to all law enforcement representatives riding anywhere along our system, with the proper identification.
"Our deepest sympathies are with the friends, family and extended law enforcement community as they come to terms with this senseless loss," said Mark Simon, Caltrain’s executive officer for Public Affairs.
