Seven Things to Do in Campbell This Weekend

Campbell is loaded with events every week. Here's our "short list" of things to check out before the weekend's over.

Say goodbye to summer and hello to fall, but before you do, check out the action Campbell has to offer this weekend. If we forgot any events, please let us know what, who, when and where in the comments section below.

For now, here’s our short list of fun events this weekend:

1.

Campbell's is kicking off its enrollment season today, Thursday Aug. 30 at 3:00 p.m. The new season officially begins Monday, Aug. 27.

2. Appreciating Customers

is holding its customer appreciation sale Thursday, Aug. 30 through Aug. 31. The event is celebrating the end of summer and back to school and will offer customers 20 percent off everything

3. Pop-Up Brow Bar

Ladies and Gents, the is hosting the Pop-Up Brow Bar today, Thursday Aug. 30 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. If you'd like to schedule your slot, contact Pauline at 408-506-1378

4. Field Hockey

Go cheer the home team at 's girls field hockey match this Friday, Aug. 31. The Warriors take on Monta Vista: Varsity at 3:30 p.m., JV at 4:45 p.m.

5. Forget the Drive In.

Close the summer outdoor movie with a little holiday fun. The last movie in the 9th annual  will be Groundhog Day in downtown Campbell, next to  on Friday, Aug. 31 from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. 

6. Fighting Obesity

The inagural is taking place this Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Campbell Community Center Track at 8:00 a.m.

7. The Spot Goes Live

in downtown Campbell kicks off its live music this Sunday, Sept. 2 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with reggae by Lemo Live. The live entertainment will continue every Sunday through the month of September. Along with the music, there will also be breakfast, football and various food and drink specials.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
