Seven Things to Do in Campbell This Weekend

Campbell is loaded with events every week. Here's our "short list" of things to check out before the weekend's over.

It's beginning to feel a little like an Indian Summer and Campbell has plenty of options to enjoy the heat or stay cool, depending on what you are looking for.

If we forgot any events, please let us know what, who, when and where in the comments section below.

For now, here’s our short list of fun events this weekend:

The is hosting a fundraiser for Fay Cleveland, a member of Team in Training to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphona Society on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

This annual blood drive, taking place this year on Friday, Sept. 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. is hosted by the Campbell Rotary. It is held at EMQ Families First, where the service club meets every Tuesday at noon. Please pre-register for the event here: http://www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation .

3. Bicycles Invade Downtown

 comes to Campbell once more to celebrate First Fridays., Friday Sept. 7, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A few things to look forward to: Custom Bikes- Behind Bars Inc., Bay Area Cargo Bikes (located at Rocket Fizz), Ride SFO Box Jump Show (Located in the lot next to The Courtyard), This is Embarrassing band playing live on the avenue and Dirty Bro's lie DJ's spinning on the avenue.

The Friends of the Campbell Library are having their monthly book sale to benefit the this Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Everything is half off, so bibliophiles should find a great find no matter what their favorite genre.

Come out in your worn clothes and help the Campbell Rotary paint the Campbell Historical Museum on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 9:30 a.m. For more information, please call Karen Lange, Museum Director, at 408-866-2758.

6. Paris in Downtown Campbell

Downtown Campbell is having its sidewalk sale this weekend, Saturday Sept. 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday Sept. 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There will be four blocks of treasure troves and fantastic finds, with 17 participating merchants as well as live music.

is kicking off football season with a breakfast benefitting the Campbell Veterans Memorial on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 11:00 a.m. There will be eggs and biscuits and, of course football.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth.
