San Francisco Beer Week Means More Attention to Silicon Valley Breweries

Campbell's Rock Bottom and Campbell Brewery will be at Tied House's 4th Annual Meet The Brewers craft beer festival.

The West Coast has a long-standing reputation as a haven for lovers of craft beer and Silicon Valley breweries want to know ensure they make a lasting impression too.

As part of the festivities of San Francisco Beer Week—but who's kidding, it's really a Bay Area celebration—brewers from Belmont, San Leandro, Santa Cruz and points in between will gather for the fourth annual Meet The Brewers Craft Beer Festival at Hermitage Brewing Co., 1627 S. 7th St. San Jose. Hermitage is the sister company to Tied House Brewery located in Mountain View.

"Every year our guest tell us how much fun they have interacting with the brewers. That’s what makes this event unique and how big the beer community keeps growing in the South Bay," said Peter Estaniel, brand manager for Hermitage Brewing. "People feel like they have the inside scoop on the local craft beer scene after
attending Meet the Brewers,”

The event, which takes place on Saturday, Feb. 16 from Noon to 5 p.m., has the confirmed participation of:

But the beer isn't the only reason to attend. Besides the fun company and door prizes, several food trucks will make an appearance—a definite draw for the designated drivers who can instead taste-test their way around these gourmet menus.

Confirmed food trucks include:

Proceeds from the 2013 Meet The Brewers will be donated to Can Do MS, a national non-profit who helps thousands of people living with MS reclaim a sense of dignity, control and freedom by empowering them with the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence to transform challenges into possibilities.

I am impressed with CalTrans ability to do the cleanup, but the problem of homelessness does not goRead More away. Until we find a way to help these people in need, the camps will just move to another location, and everything will start all over again. The homeless need help - whether they want it or not. It's time to get that ball rolling.

Who is Tony Faber? Here is some history from a family member. My name is Karen Hunt and myRead More grandfather is and was Albert Jacob Faber. He owned and ran that bike shop up until his death in 1975. Subsequent to grandpa's death the house/building became the property of my grandmother, Lucille Faber. Upon her death, the property went to my mother, Jackie Faber-Cornick. In 1978, the business, not the building was sold to Alex Lariviere and he has conducted business since. The building was never sold and belongs to my mom, Jackie Cornick. It was her great-grandparents home back in the 1920's. We are shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss. At this time, we are trying to decide the fate of that beloved building. We are currently awaiting forensics tests, engineering and structural reports, and working with the City to keep it safe and prevent it from being vandalized and becoming a blight. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about the history of Faber's Cyclery. My grandfather was a man of character and integrity. Sadly, neither of his two sons became involved in the business. With that said, anybody claiming to be a Faber or son of Albert Jacob, is just misrepresenting the truth. Thank you for sharing your story and memories! Very truly yours, Karen Hunt Great grandaughter of the owner of the Original Fabers Cyclery.
