Pic of the Day: Burning Neon at Night

Campbell is home to many neon signs that only come to life after dark.

Neon signs reached their peak of popularity between the 1920s and 1960s. Whole stretches of roads, shopping centers and businesses were lit up by every color, every shape imaginable.

This particular sign has hovered over the busy intersection of E. Campbell and Gilman avenues for the last 54 years and belongs to Paul Del Grande Auto Parts.

By day, the sign, in its pastel blues and whites looks weathered and blends into the sky but at night, the sign lights up and emits a warm, orange glow onto the sidewalk below.
